The Edmonton hockey community is mourning the profound loss of Brad McCorry, a man whose impact on the ice and in the lives of his players was immeasurable. A pillar of the Canadian Athletic Club (CAC), Brad was much more than a coach; he was a mentor, a leader, and a dedicated father whose influence will be felt for generations.
Brad’s coaching career was defined by excellence and an unwavering commitment to player development. His ability to inspire greatness was never more evident than during the historic 2022–2023 season. Leading the CAC Butchers & Packers U18 AA team, Brad guided them through a legendary campaign, finishing with an astounding overall record of 46–5–1. The team’s dominance was undeniable, scoring a staggering 389 goals while maintaining a disciplined defensive presence.
The pinnacle of this remarkable journey arrived when the team captured the Provincial Championship. In recognition of his extraordinary leadership and tactical brilliance, Brad was named the CAC Coach of the Year in 2023. While his accolades were many, those who knew him best remember him not for the trophies, but for the character he instilled in his athletes. He served as a vital role model, teaching his players the value of discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
